Bangyan is a medical student at the University of Utah School of Medicine class of 2027. He was born and raised in Qingdao, China, before attending high school in the US. He obtained a B.S. in Neuroscience from USC. After graduating from college, he took 2 gap years: one spent conducting clinical research at the BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, and another year obtaining his master's degree in Computer Science at UPenn. He was a contributor at the Google Summer of Code in 2022, when his team developed a platform for smart literature search using Natural Language Processing. He is passionate about technology innovation in healthcare, especially in the application of machine learning in patient care. He is currently on the admissions committee and welcomes any questions regarding life as an F1 med student!
