Dr. Odonkor came to the US after receiving a full scholarship from the University of the South, where he graduated summa laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in Biochemistry (major) and Psychology (minor). He completed graduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where his research focused on novel use of gold-nanoparticles and near infrared fluorescent ligands for diagnostic optical imaging of cancer cells.
He enrolled in medical school at Yale in 2008, where he served as class president and chapter president of the Student National Medical Association. After intern year at the Yale New Haven Hospital, he completed residency training in Physiatry at Johns Hopkins and a Fellowship in Patient Safety/Health Science Management at the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Leadership Institute. After post-graduate research training at the Stanford Wearable Health Lab, he completed pain medicine fellowship at Harvard, Massachusetts General Hospital. He is currently on the faculty at Yale in the department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.
