About

Hasan was born and raised in Pakistan, where he was part of the national junior under-16 tennis team, representing the country in Japan and Thailand. In 2017, he moved to the USA to attend Lindenwood University, where he played varsity tennis and pursued a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and biochemistry. Hasan graduated summa cum laude with university honors.
During his undergraduate studies, he worked as a laboratory assistant and served as a student health ambassador. After graduation, he took three gap years where he joined the Brody Lab at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. There, he researched the role of CCR2 chemokines in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), leading to his selection for an oral presentation at the ATS 2023 Conference. Moreover, he received the best pre-doctoral trainee award, and published a first-author paper in Lancet Discovery Science.
Throughout his gap years, Hasan actively volunteered at a free health clinic, the Siteman Cancer Center, and as a tennis coach for children with Down syndrome. He also served as the Missouri regional president for Second Serve, a non-profit tennis organization.
Now a first-year medical student, Hasan serves as a community outreach leader for his school’s AMA-MSA chapter. He is eager to continue his research throughout medical school and is passionate about mentoring others interested in research, as well as providing guidance on taking gap years and applying to medical school.
