Wendy Liu
About
Wendy is a first year dental student at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. She received her B.S. degree from University of California, Los Angeles. During her undergraduate years, she participated in various extracurricular activities. She was part of a pre-health club called Pilipino for Community Health for all 4 years at UCLA, serving as part of the staff/board of the club during her 2nd - 4th years. She really liked this club because she was able to serve the underserved population in the Greater Los Angeles Area at health fairs, volunteer at senior homes, mentor club members, organize networking events, while making friends who helped her learn more about the Pilipino culture. Another activity that she enjoyed was her on-campus job at the Student Activities Center. With a very caring manager and a group of friendly staff, this job was a wonderful way for her to meet people outside of pre-health routes and improve her interpersonal skills. She worked during the last 3 years of undergrad. Finally, Wendy gathered important pre-dental information from her Pre-Dental Student Outreach Program, and accumulated sufficient shadowing experiences from dental clinics that are close to UCLA campus. Wendy believes that finding the right dentist to shadow is crucial, because pre-dental students need dentists who are passionate in mentoring and educating to optimize the shadowing experience. Overall, while balancing her demanding coursework, Wendy found passion in her extracurricular, pursued them consistently, and paved herself an enriching pre-dental life.
